National Mathematics Day

The Brazilian Society of Mathematical Education (SBEM) elected May 6th "National Day of Mathematics", in memory of the birth date of Julio César de Mello e Souza, the MALBA TAHAN.

On this day, it is suggested to promote, in all Brazilian states, the holding of commemorative events, with the objective of disseminating mathematics as an area of ​​knowledge, its history, possible relations with other areas, and to put into discussion some beliefs. about the current teaching of mathematics.
